Peum Anupa Pasqual State Minister of Social Empowerment of Sri Lanka

 Anupa Pasqual was a member of the parliament starting in 2020. He was sworn in as the state minister of Social Empowerment on September 8, 2022. Following his Late uncle Dayasena Turnolius Pasqual's footsteps, who was an experienced politician, Anupa Pasqual also dedicated his time and energy to the betterment of his country.

Anupa Pasqual was born in 1964 in Matugama. he pursued his education at Ananda Sastralaya in Matugama, Sri Sumangala Collage in Panadura, and Royal College in Colombo. His academic journey culminated in the acquisition of a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry from the University of Colombo.

Before his parliamentary service, he contributed to the environmental sector with distinction. He held the role of a Senior Officer at the Central Environmental Authority (CEA) and served as an Environmental Specialist in the Greater Colombo Water and Wastewater Rehabilitation Project. His professional background exemplifies his commitment to fostering sustainable development and improving the environment.

As the State Minister of Social Empowerment, he has undertaken extensive travels throughout Sri Lanka and abroad to strengthen Sri Lanka's global presence and influence. Notably, he represented Sri Lanka at the 16th Session (General Debate) of the Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (COSP16), which took place in New York, USA on June 13, 2023. During this event, he championed the rights of persons with disabilities on behalf of Sri Lanka.

Furthermore, he participated in the 5th Global Mental Health Summit held in Argentina, where he shared upcoming initiatives aimed at enhancing the well-being of Sri Lanka and its people. His active engagement on the international stage demonstrates his commitment to improving the lives of Sri Lankans on a global scale.

Additionally, he has forged strong collaborations with countries like Japan, China, and Korea to foster increased innovative economic opportunities for Sri Lanka, highlighting his dedication to advancing the nation's prosperity and development.
